Evolution

Evolution

A molten seed
spun off from stars,
balanced perfectly
between willful centrifugalism
and the warming love
of Newton’s sun,
cools while in the murky
recesses of bubbling pools
percolates natural law
commingled with divine plan
so that the special one
not doing so well in water,
will be gently urged
toward the warring shore
on incipient toes
to be taught by degrees
how a thumb can work
in brilliant opposition.
